Would you change?
One of my favourite singer / songwriters is Tracy Chapman. I love her! In her song “Change”, she sings: “If you knew that you would die today / Saw the face of God and love / Would you change? / Would you change? She continues with other examples. It’s a challenge. Would we change? And when would we make that change?
I’ve been feeling a little stuck over the past few months, yearning for a change. The road I had been travelling on, had been fine but I got to the end of the road or a crossroads and staying in the same spot would lead to disappointment. I needed something different – I was clear about that. But would I change? Would I be daring and bold enough?
Luckily for me, I’m in a position to change direction if I want to. If I wanted to get up and up sticks, I just need to check in with the boss and thankfully the boss is ME!!!!! Phew!!
As a good netball player (good in the sense that I turned up for training and matches, not good in the sense of ability!! hahaha), I’m familiar with the word ‘pivot’ to change direction. And with my flamboyant nature, I thought no pivot is complete without a pirouette! You’ve got to dance through life – that’s my philosophy!! 🙂 And also what a great title for a poem!! It’s a win-win situation over here!
When it’s time to make a move and you feel it in your gut and bones – Go for it!!! “Pivot and Pirouette!”
Love, Katty xxx
Pivot and Pirouette
When life gives you lemons
Make a gallon of lemonade
When your dreams are pie in the sky
And only the worse things cascade
When everything is going pear-shaped
Successful results are delayed
When the chips are down
All of a sudden you’re dismayed
I’m telling you – don’t fret
Pivot and Pirouette
When you’re not feeling like the brightest cookie
You miss out on winning accolades
You don’t even cut the mustard
You don’t make the grade
Every move you make, you’re in a pickle
Can you keep up this masquerade?
How will you get out of this jam?
Who will come to your aid?
I’m telling you – don’t sweat
Pivot and Pirouette
When you’ve got egg on your face
It’s publicly displayed
All you want to do is bring home the bacon
Be free to work and trade
But you’re left crying over spilt milk
Everything is a downgrade
You can’t help but go bananas
Bounce around and richochet
I’m telling you – don’t get upset
Pivot and Pirouette
I’m also telling you – have a baguette
Subliminally, this poem is just as much about food – lest you forget
When you’re ready to take off and jet-set
Pivot and Pirouette
Fabulous!
