Music in the air
I’m holidaying in the Alps with family. I told my parents that we were going to write a group poem for this blog and everyone had to compose one verse each. My mum dutifully donated a verse which sadly has been discarded (for now!) My dad couldn’t produce a verse but spoke of being inspired by a piece of music, The Alpine Symphony by Richard Strauss. My dad is fluent in the language of music! Listening to my dad describe how the music illustrated the glorious views we were gazing upon gave me fresh inspiration to write about the relationship of music and the beauty of nature.
Alpine Symphony
I hear the Alpine Symphony
Playing in the breeze
I see the dancing notes
In between the trees
Melodious and fearless
Depicting valleys and peaks
It surely takes my breath away
I can barely speak.
Enthralled by all this beauty
God made and from the mind of man
Blending in a perfect marriage
Could this be the Creator’s plan?
The backdrop of our inspiration
The soundtrack of the natural world
We leave our indelible impression
A new delightful dawn we herald.
What partnership divine
Harmonious and pure
We will not be the same
As we were before
The spectacle of earth and sound
Of operatic proportions
We compose of the lustrous sights
A symphonic poetry in motion.
