Recently I was quite stressed at work so I sat in my car during my lunch break, rolled my chair back and listened to a meditation / affirmation video.  On the video, the presenter would say a few statements, followed by ‘Listen and Repeat’.  It had a very calming effect on me.

The repetition of the phrase ‘Listen and Repeat’ reminded me of my time working as a secondary school teacher.  Every day, I would say to the students, ‘Listen and Repeat’ or as I was a French teacher, ‘Écoutez et Répétez’.  It didn’t appear to have the same calming impact on my students!  After 4 years of teaching, I made the decision to leave the profession and I chuckled when a student asked me “What does ‘écoutez’ mean?  You’re always saying it!!!!’  Yes and I’m also tugging on my ears whilst saying it!!  Isn’t that a big clue!! Apparently not!! lol!

Sometimes we need reminders of who we are.  We need to say it aloud, repeat and know it and not let life make us forget how wonderful we are.
