I’ve Got Biscuits

I was invited to share poetry at my friend Dee Bailey’s Simply Deez Ladie’s Soiree event in Luton.  I ended my set with “I Didn’t Ask.”  This is a poem about asking a guy out for coffee, but he mistakenly feels that I’m asking for so much more…. like a lifetime commitment!

During the evening, a lady named Rosemary gave all the ladies biscuits from the Caribbean.  My friend Yvonne John, tapped me on the shoulder and said, “the next time you ask a guy out, tell him you’ve got biscuits!!!”  We had a good laugh and soon afterwards I wrote “I’ve Got Biscuits” for a giggle!!

I’ve Got Biscuits

I’ve noticed you for a little while
You’ve got a nice face and a lovely smile
Would you like to go for coffee or some PG Tips?
Come on, I’ve got biscuits.

We could talk about your job or what you’d like to be
Where you’re from and your family tree
Recent holidays and future trips
Come on, I’ve got biscuits.

You can come as you are – I don’t like to judge
I’m a nice girl – one you don’t have to dodge
We might get along, we might be a hit
Come on, I’ve got biscuits.

I promise not to scare you, I’ll make you feel at ease
I won’t bring up marriage…… but if I do it’s for a tease
This could be a ride, I could be the golden ticket
Come on, I’ve got biscuits.

    1. Hahaha thanks Becky. Not tried this as a chat up line – but can certainly keep it in the back pocket the next time an opportunity arises. xx
